Bullet Camera

Bullet security cameras are a type video surveillance camera that are typically small and shaped. Bullet cameras can easily mount to ceilings or walls because most of them use a tri-axis type of mount. Not all bullet camera are small. Infrared bullet cameras tend to be larger in diameter to accommodate the additional space that their IR LEDs require.

If you are looking for a long-range camera, you’ll probably want to go with a bullet camera, as the housing of the dome camera tends to limit the size of the lens. Typically, the longer the lens, the longer the range. Please keep in mind however that I say “typically”, as in the tendency is that bullet cameras see further.

PTZ is an abbreviation for pan, tilt and zoom and reflects the movement options of the camera. Other types of cameras are ePTZ or virtual pan-tilt-zoom (VPTZ) where a high-resolution camera digitally zooms and pans into portions of the image, with no physical camera movement. Ultra-low bandwidth surveillance streaming technologies use VPTZ to stream user-defined areas in higher quality without increasing overall bandwidth usage.

PTZ Cameras are commonly used in applications such as surveillance, video conferencing, live production, lecture capture and distance learning.
